The Grouch

My earliest recollections of Groucho Marx was my father trying to rather comicly mimic this amply moustached cigar smoking comedian. Papa's mouch being rather sparse competition.
When told his name - i always pictured him as this grumpy old man who was mean to little kids and waddled after them menacingly waving his cigar around.
Resultant nightmares and a yelling from the mother ,ensured that my father never brought him up again!
And me,too young to appreciate the eldest Marx brother for what he really was, faded away into a corner of my childhood memories.
Until two years, when i came across one "Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana."
Not such a grouch after all eh?
I looked up the rest, to see if they matched up.
They did. and i was hooked.
Famously known for his "Paraprosdokians''
Besides his timeless dialogues,he's been immortalised in a way, with the spectacle and moustache face masks that everyone loves to own.
Groucho Marx's wit is one-of-a-kind.
As a rather tiny dedication to the genius of his works which never fail to make me laugh out loud.
I begin my amateur beginning to blogging on a few of my favourite quotes, with his.
